Stephanie Cheon was born and raised in Los Angeles, where watching familiar streets transform into film sets first sparked her belief that ordinary places can hold extraordinary stories. That early sense of wonder became the foundation of her creative life.

Her artistic journey began in fine arts through painting and drawing, eventually leading her to study Product Design at Otis College of Art and Design. There, she deepened her understanding of form, function, and the visual language of design. But it was the magic of theater, its shifting sets and seamless transformations, that ultimately drew her behind the curtain toward scenic design.

Stephanie earned her BA in Theater with an emphasis in Scenic Design from UCLA, where she discovered the emotional power of shaping space through narrative. UCLA’s collaborative environment across theater and film opened the door to the world of filmmaking.

One of Stephanie’s earliest inspirations was stop-motion animation. As a child, she was captivated by its miniature worlds, but it was the realization that each detail was crafted by hand that felt truly magical. Early in her career, she had the opportunity to work in stop-motion, an experience that deepened that childhood fascination and continues to influence her tactile, detail-driven approach to storytelling.

Over the years, Stephanie has collaborated with remarkable artists, designers, and storytellers across film and television. Each project has strengthened her belief in the power of teamwork, problem-solving, and world-building through design.

Today, she works as an Assistant Art Director in film and television and is a proud member of IATSE Local 800. She is driven by the magic of creating spaces that evoke emotion, how texture, light, and thoughtful design can shape the heart of a story. Whether on set or behind the scenes, she finds purpose in helping bring imaginative worlds to life.

Outside of her professional work, Stephanie finds inspiration through sculpting, model-making, and painting. Hands-on practices that reconnect her to the craft that first sparked her creativity.

As she continues to grow in her field, Stephanie remains excited about the future of storytelling and honored to play a part in shaping it, one frame at a time.
